Moving is the new black.

(Thank you, Suzy, for the well-stated title.)

Moving really has become the new black. Everybody's doing it (sound familiar?). And if moving is the new black then taking a step that is truly grown-up (say, buying a house) is the new pink.

I can't seem to think of anything but what I will do when I move and who I will do it with. My current stream of consciousness has been going like this:

Who will I go out with on Saturday nights?
Who will be the new friend that does the pop-in?
Are there enough people in that town that my Saturday night person won't also be my pop-in person?
I wonder if I'll actually shoot more/read more/do those "I've been meaning to get to that" things more now that I'm moving to the country?
Ya know, there isn't going to be a party every night of week up there.
Watching TV could be the highlight of some of those days.
Oh god...

In any case, this whole move will play out one of three ways:
  1. I get up there and realize 3 weeks in that I've made a collosal mistake and take off screaming toward the first city that pops into my head.
  2. I get up there and my life just gets better.
  3. I get in an unforeseen, life-threatening situation and die an unexpected death.
Number three doesn't really have anything to do with my moving anywhere, but it's always a possibility! And on that note, I will be going up there next week to look for housing. I expect some sort of sitcom-type hilarity will ensue as I am the least educated house buyer I know....stay tuned!
